The “Day Out of Time” Forgiveness and Reconciliation Ceremony is a modern spiritual ritual observed annually on July 25th. It is designed as a cosmic “reset button” to release the emotional baggage, conflicts, and grievances of the past year before entering a new energetic cycle.

A day “between years”

The ceremony originates from the 13 Moon / Dreamspell Calendar, a modern spiritual calendar popularized by author José Argüelles and inspired by ancient Mayan timekeeping. The calendar breaks the solar year into 13 months (moons) of 28 days each, totaling 364 days.

Because a standard solar year is 365 days, the final remaining day, July 25th, does not belong to any month or week. It is treated as a “liminal space”, a cosmic pause between the end of the old year (July 24th) and the Galactic New Year (July 26th).

Because it sits entirely outside the standard constructs of linear time, it frees us from daily routines, gridlocks and deadlines. Time is Art, rather than Time is Money.

Why forgiveness and reconciliation?

Because July 25th represents a clean break from old timelines, it is considered the ultimate day for spiritual purification. The ceremony focuses on:

  • Forgiveness: intentionally cutting the cords of resentment, anger, or grudges carried over the previous 13 months.
  • Reconciliation: reaching out to mend fractured relationships or, if direct contact isn’t safe or healthy, reconciling internally by accepting past events and finding peace within yourself.
  • Self-forgiveness: releasing unearned guilt, regret, and the pressure of mistakes made over the past year.

How the ceremony is practiced

Burn & release
Writing down grievances, regrets, or the names of people you want to forgive, then burning the paper in a fireproof vessel to physically transform the energy.
Water & smoke cleansing
Using elements like water, salt, or herbal smoke (like sage or lavender) to wash away the energetic “dust” of the old cycle.
Stillness & meditation
Practicing absolute silence or deep meditation to listen to “soul time” rather than standard clocks.
Artistic expression
Since the day champions universal peace through culture, it is dedicated to painting, music, dancing, or crafting without a goal or deadline.

Ultimately, the ceremony functions as a spiritual palate cleanser, allowing you to cross the threshold into the new galactic cycle on July 26th with an open, unburdened heart.
